Includes new connecting rod with wrist pin bushing, roller

Bearing seat service
Repair service for crankshafts that have worn bearing seats.
Seats hard chromed and then ground to size. We will provide an
interference fit of .0006" to .0009". Out of roundness and taper
to within +/- .00018" on any seat.

CRANKSHAFT GRINDING – POST-1969 BMW TWINS
If you screwed up with the oil filter o-rings or for any reason
you have a worn or damaged crankshaft, it can be reground and
undersize bearings installed.
Grind both con rod journals and polish main journals. Cranks
without riveted counterweights...$92+$15 return ship
Grind both con rod journals and polish main journals. Cranks
with riveted on counterweights….$184+$15 return ship
Grind connecting rod and cap and hone rod big end.....$22 each
Connecting rod plain bearing insert, standard, 1st under
(-0.25mm) and 2nd under (-0.50mm).....$11 each (there are 2
inserts for each connecting rod)
Connecting rod bearing insert, 3rd under (-0.75mm) 4th under

Valve guide with circlip. Oversize
outer diameter to 13.35mm for valves with 7mm stems and 14.15
for 8mm valve stems are available.....$15

/2 LK cylinder heads (late long reach (3/4 inch) spark plug)
used bolt sleeves for the two lower head bolts similar to post
1970 cylinder heads but did not have the O-rings used on the
later heads and sometimes leak between the sleeve and head.
Machining of an O-ring groove into the 4 bolt sleeves and 4
Viton O-rings.....$80
Early /5 had the same problem but can be
upgraded with part numbers 11 12 1 254 839, 11 12 1 254 840 and
11 12 1 255 167. |
TRANSMISSION
OUTPUT SHAFT AND 5TH GEAR REPAIR ALL 5 SPEED AIRHEADS
One cause of a loud cyclic transmission noise is a worn output
shaft and 5th gear bore. The shaft has shallow grooves under the
gear that allow oil to leak out, preventing the oil from
achieving the necessary film thickness.
Repaired by chrome
plating and grinding the shaft, then honing the gear bore round.
Unfortunately the grooves are too deep to eliminate......

TRANSMISSION
KICK START SEGMENT GEAR REPAIR
Damage to the first and second teeth on the /2 and /5 kickstart
segment gear causes the kickstarter to lock when trying to start
the bike. Repaired by hardfacing and grinding the damaged teeth.
To avoid this problem gently depress the kickstarter about 15
degrees until you feel the segment gear engage the idler gear
and then kick hard.....$95 |
TRANSMISSION
OUTPUT SHAFT CIRCLIP GROOVE
From about 1988 to 1993 BMW did not put a circlip on the front
of the 5 speed Airhead transmission output shaft. We think it
should be there and will cut a groove in your output shaft to
accept it......$94 + $5 if we supply the circlip. |
