$15

CAMSHAFT AND GENERATOR BEARINGS
The /2, R26 & R27 engines use some other bearings that are commonly available at bearing supply stores. All used two 6203 bearings to support the camshaft, and the R68 and R69 used a third bearing on the cam shaft, a 6003. Also a 6203 (pre 1961) or a 6004 (post 1961) bearing is used on the twin's crankshaft just behind the generator rotor, and the R26 and R27 used a 6204 there. If your engine is quiet and clean inside, and you are just doing a routine slinger cleaning I see no imperative to replace the bearings.

PISTON RINGS FOR MOST EVERYTHING - EVEN NON-BMW
NOT stock. The lower oil control ring is a three-part ring: two thin chrome-plated steel rails and an expander between them. These conform to irregularities in the cylinder walls better than the stock ones. The middle ring is a two-part ring: one, a nodular cast iron ring slightly larger in diameter than the second, which is a chrome-plated steel ring. The end gap of one piece is 180 degrees from the other, resulting in an endless ring. The soft cast iron ring gives quick seating; the chrome-plated steel ring provides long life. The top ring is a conventional chrome-plated one. Two piston set. R50-R69s, R60/5/6/7, R75/5/6/7, R90/s/6 R100/s/7/RT/T BMW are generally in stock; others two week delivery.

$90
(0.4 lb)

LIGHTENED WRIST PIN
1955-69 stock wrist pins are 20mm outside diameter with a straight wall. Depending on the piston maker, the dimensions were either 12mm inside diameter, 55.5mm in length and 88g in weight; or, 14mm inside diameter, 60mm length and 74g weight (or whatever the piston maker felt like that week).
1970-95 stock wrist pins are 22mm outside diameter. For example R75/5 are straight-wall with an inside diameter of 14mm and length of 68.75mm weigh 122g.

Other diameters available on request

Lightened 20mm wrist pins with the inside diameters tapered, 55.5mm in length, are 55g those 60mm are 60g.... (other lengths also available)

R51 R51/2 R51/3 (1950-54) This is the same piston as the R24 R25 R25/2 R25/3, which has a compression height 0.5mm less than the stock R51 R51/2 R51/3 pistons; which, with a standard size piston, will slightly reduce the compression ratio from the stock 6.3 to 1 to 6.1 to 1. If you are rebuilding your crankshaft you may want to consider replacing the stock rods that have 18mm wrist pin bushings with later rods with 20mm bushings - and use later R50 and R50/2 1955-1969 pistons (below). This will result in a 7.5 to 1 ratio and require the carbs to be re-jet to R50/2 specifications. Standard (67.94mm), 1st (68.44), 2nd (68.94), 3rd (69.44) and 4th (69.94) oversize w/rings, pin and circlip.

$168
each

PISTONS R50 and R50/2 1955-1969 and 500cc R92 Marusho (Lilac)
Between 1955 and 1960 BMW used pistons which gave a compression ratio of 6.8:1 and a rated horsepower of 24. After 1960, BMW modified just the pistons to increase the compression ratio to 7.5:1 and the horsepower to 26. These are the later high-compression pistons which will fit all years.

Standard, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th oversize. w/wrist pin, circlip and original one piece style rings (each).

$168

Piston with rings as described above, PISTON RINGS FOR MOST EVERYTHING EVEN NON BMW (each).

PISTON (WRIST) PIN BUSHINGS ALL 20MM PISTON PINS (1955-69 TWINS and ?)
A fair number of connecting rods have loose piston pin bushings. To permanently solve this problem a new bushing is put in the rod and a precisely sized hardened steel ball is pressed through it. This causes the bushing to flow into the hills and valleys of the con rod, locking it permanently in place, while leaving an excellent surface finish and correct size. The bushings come in 2 outside diameters to match the two sizes of connecting rod pin holes that BMW used

REGROUND LIFTERS (FOLLOWERS)
It is unfortunately common for the lifters (also know as followers, the part that the cam lobes are in immediate contact with) to be pitted on 1951-1969 BMWs. I am offering to exchange a reground one for your pitted one. The exchange lifters are first lightly ground then hardfaced (a hard metal is welded onto the surface) then ground to size. After 1969 BMW moved the camshaft below the crankshaft where the flow of oil is more copious, but if there is demand for later lifters I will include them in the exchange program.
Hardfaced exchange lifter.
